Project updates

A project update says where a project stands (on track, at risk, off track, on
hold or done) and what changed, in a few lines. OneCamp drafts it from the
project's tasks, so writing one takes a minute, and your team, a channel and
your client can all read it.

Write an update

Open the project's Updates tab and press Write an update (or Write the
first update
). The box opens with a draft made from the project's tasks since
the last update:

  • what was done, what's in progress, and how many tasks were added;
  • tasks that haven't moved for 7 days or more;
  • tasks that are overdue, and tasks not started that are due in the next 7 days;
  • the time logged, if your team tracks time.

Above it, choose where the project stands. One choice is marked suggested:
Done when every task is done, Off track when three or more tasks are
overdue (or a quarter of the open ones), At risk with any overdue or stuck
task, and otherwise On track. The choice is yours.

Change the text as you like. It's plain text: a blank line starts a new
paragraph, and lines that start with "- " are a list. Press Post update (or
Ctrl/⌘ + Enter); Esc closes the box.

Who hears about it

  • The project's members are told, by email if they get emails about task changes.
  • Also post in a channel posts it to the channel you choose, as you.
  • Show on the project's client link puts it on the page your client sees
    when you've shared the project: the
    newest update first, earlier ones a click away.

Keep them coming

When the newest update is a week old, the project's admins see An update is
due
on the Updates tab. Next to the project's name, a chip shows the latest
update's health and how long ago it was posted; press it to open the updates.

An AI summary (OneCamp with AI)

Add an AI summary puts two or three sentences above the facts, in the voice
of your team's recent updates. The facts stay as they are, so anything the
summary says can be checked right below it. Undo the AI summary takes it out.

Good to know

  • Only a project's admins post updates; everyone on the project can read them.
  • You can edit an update you posted; an admin can delete any update.
  • Days are counted in your time zone, so "due in the next 7 days" means yours.

Available from OneCamp v2.53.0 (with AI) and v1.38.0 (without AI).
