Setup flow
Voice, video and screen clips
Record a voice note, a video of yourself, or your screen with your voice over
it, right from the message box, and send it like any file.
Record a clip
- In any message box (a channel, a DM, a group chat or a thread), press the
microphone beside the paperclip. - Choose what to record:
- Voice: your microphone.
- Video: your camera and microphone.
- Screen: a screen, window or tab you pick, with your microphone over
it.
- Press Start recording. Pause and Resume as you need, then
Stop. - Play it back. Attach clip adds it to your message; Record again
starts over. - Add a line of text if you like, and send.
Nothing leaves your browser until you send the message. The camera and
microphone are released as soon as the recorder closes.
How long a clip can be
Up to five minutes, or your workspace's limit for a file, whichever comes
first. The recorder shows about how long is left and stops at the limit, and
keeps what you recorded. An admin can raise the limit in Admin → General →
Maximum upload size.
Good to know
- Voice clips play as audio, video and screen clips as video, right in the
conversation. They're stored on your server like any other file. - Screen shows in browsers that can share a screen: Chrome, Edge, Firefox
and Safari on a computer. Phones can record voice and video clips. - The first time, your browser asks to use your microphone (and camera, for a
video). If you said no, allow them in your browser's site settings and try
again.
